Join me in wishing the United States Space Force a very Happy Birthday!
It is only six years old this month, but it has a big job. Their mission is to secure and maintain America’s interests in space. A lot is happening above us, and the Space Force carries a tremendous responsibility to keep it all working and keep our nation safe. This includes:
• operating satellites, launching missions, and defending vulnerable space-based assets
• doing the cutting-edge work needed to ensure future generations can rely on GPS and satellite communications
• enabling the navigation, communication, intelligence, and warning systems that support both modern warfare and everyday civilian life
When I supported the Navy as a civilian electromagnetic warfare engineer, any time someone started talking about the “space domain,” I thought the same thing: space professionals are, as they say in Boston, “wicked smart.”
And they have to be. Because so much of our economy and national security now depends on space, keeping that domain secure is strategically vital. Every branch of our military depends on space-based assets to execute its mission.
To every man and woman serving in the United States Space Force, roughly 9,400 Guardians, and to your families who share the honor and burden of service, thank you.
I’m Brad Meyer, and I’m running for the United States House of Representatives to bring strong technical judgment and leadership to Congress in an increasingly complex world.
